Teíkitevaámanihií Robert Huukena, known as Teíki is a Tuhuka Patutiki (Marquesan tattooer). He is a member of a large family of artists from the island of Nuku-Hiva. His love for his ancestors and his passion for Tiki (image) art, and in particular Patutiki, encouraged him to carry out more thorough research, by redrawing and classifying each Marquesan tattoo symbol with the aim of better revealing their significations and thus making their understanding accessible to everyone. For this work, Teíki wishes to pay tribute to his native land, Te Henua Enana (the Marquesas Islands) and his ancestors, the Tupuna.
